Mexico Mission Team Takes Off!

Here is a photo of the team the day after they arrived. All are well and doing fine. The internet is down at the base so we came to town to send this for you. You may not hear much other communication 'til the satellite connection is restored.

Thanks so very much to Jim and Nathan Taylor in Oaxaca for getting this picture to us! Read emails from the missionaries in Mexico regarding the team's progress below and view pictures of the team sent directly from Mexico to us in our web photo gallery!

Please remember to keep praying for our entire team, the other missionaries in Oaxaca and all the people of Oaxaca.

"Team Mexico" has left us! Our mission team departed early Wednesday, June 9th for their 10 day mission trip to Mexico. Phone calls will be scarce, however anytime I hear from the team I will post the update immediately!

UPDATES & EMAILS FROM MEXICO...

Wednesday, June 16th, 10:14 PM - Received the following email from Mexico: "Spent 4 days in village. A couple got sick for 12 to 24 hours. All but Audie are well as far as I know. Spent a lot of our time painting the President's building (city offices) of the village we were in. Tomorrow we go shopping and touring in Oaxaca city. Then I think the Florida group goes on a 10 hour or so over night bus ride to Mexico city. They then have some down time at a motel till they fly home."

They also included several pictures in the email, which are posted in the web photo gallery. They sent a picture of a home where 18 males stayed for 3 nights on a concrete floor. It had a tin roof and it rained two out of three of the nights! There is a picture of the team as they get started scraping and painting the President's building. There is a picture of Pastor Carl and a local pastor at the village in front the the building after it had been painted. And finally, a picture of the group eating dinner in a room beside the church that hosted them. (The missionary from Oaxaca described the food as "very interesting"!)

Saturday, June 12th, 6:34 PM - Received the following email from Mexico: "We just got back up (he means their satellite link, I'm sure). Will be leaving Sunday AM for villages and will be back Wednesday evening. Will try to send additional photos and updates that evening if everything works out."

Saturday, June 12th, 12:30 PM - Received the following email from a member of the staff in Mexico: "Hey this is one of the staff members down here in Mexico and I am going to send you a few pictures of the team. All of these pictures will be of the team while they are at the base (because they haven't gone anywhere else yet). Hope you like them! – Eli" The pictures are posted in our web site picture gallery already. To view them click here.

Friday, June 11th, 12:00 PM - We received a picture of the team from the missionaries in Oaxaca (see above). Thanks so much!

Thursday, June 9th, 6:00 PM (our time, 4:00 PM Mexico time) - The team arrived safely in Mexico City! Only one person (Rachel) got flagged randomly for customs and she went through just fine, praise God! A few of the kids reported a slightly bumpy plane ride before landing and some were feeling a little sick, so please pray for them.

Thursday, June 9th, 10:45 AM - The flight from Orlando landed safely in Miami. The team now has about a three hour layover until they leave for Mexico!

Will you please commit to daily prayer for SonRise Community Church, it's
leadership, and it’s vision? Prayer is one of the most powerful gifts God has given us.

“After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were filled with the
Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.” – Acts 4:31
